I am an artist and an art therapist.
I believe that we can better understand our own inner life when we see it reflected outside of ourselves.
I often work on large scale (3’ - 6’), unprimed canvas on the floor or tacked to the wall as a way to engage my whole body (not just my overly-chatty brain) and to move around all angles of the canvas. I like to spill ink or make large marks with full-body motion as a way to start a “conversation” between myself and the canvas. I typically do not begin with a composition or end piece in mind. I work intentionally but spontaneously, responding in the moment to the mark that is in front of me and the emotion/thought that is inside me.
